I used to play outside, splash in puddles, create paper airplanes, and pretend to cook with fallen leaves inside the house when I was a kid. It was a fun adventure that allowed me to express myself, have fun, and learn. I think this period of my life was the most formative for me, perhaps because we are more prone to mistakes and mishaps as children. It was very important in forming who I am today. I can reflect on and treasure my memories. Consequently, consider the child's situation if these opportunities were denied to them. What kind of future will they have if the present is destroyed? I think of myself as fortunate because I have access to a safe place and an education, but others do not.
What are a child's rights in the Philippines?
The 1987 Philippine Constitution's Article 15, Section 3(2) guarantees children's rights to help and protection from conditions that are harmful to their development, such as neglect, abuse, cruelty, and exploitation. The provisions for children's protection are also outlined in the RPC. We must encourage everyone to always keep in mind that the future of the children is the future of the nation. If we don't uphold the fundamental rights of children, how are the country men going to survive? Their rights must be upheld and not compromised because doing so would also violate those of the future.
